Welcome to my latest venture into content creation. Out in the field, I’m always having great conversations with other creatives. I thought it would be fun and potentially informative to turn these conversations into a podcast series and bring them to you!
The vision is simple. Have great conversations with talented creatives in the running industry. I hope to bring on photographers, filmmakers, artists, and storytellers of all mediums. We’ll chat about their background and how they got into running and creation. We’ll also talk about lifestyle, business, and balancing it all.
The goal is 12 episodes, once a month for a year. This should be a sustainable pace while working my main job. It also allows me to do them in person, which I think will make them special and unique in our digital age.
So onto the first episode! The first feels like a big step and I was so excited my buddy, Zach, said yes. He’s an amazing artist, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with him on a project before. You’ll just find the audio here, so please check out his work on his Substack (
) or Instagram.Episode 1
In the first episode of Run of Show, I talk with Zach Litoff, a runner and artist. We discuss his journey from focusing on running to embracing art and transitioning from a physics major to a studio art major in college, influenced by a professor's advice to post art on social media. Zach's art, often blending running themes with different creative styles, has gained traction in our local running community and has even gone viral on Instagram.
We talk about:
The importance of mentorship and the evolving role of social media in promoting art.
The value of physical art over digital, emphasizing the importance of tangible creations for galleries and meaningful art.
The benefits of digital tools like Procreate for experimentation.
The challenges of running a creative business like managing finances and client relationships.
The concerns about AI's impact on art and building a personal brand to differentiate from AI-generated work.
Zach's inspirations and his recent work on a book about the changing landscape of track and field. Enjoy!
